Sharing Features

When you use the "Share" or "Create Link" features, you are choosing to share your text externally. Shareable links place your text in the URL fragment (the part after #). Fragments are not sent in HTTP requests and do not appear in server or CDN logs, and the tool shows a warning before one is created.

Anyone who receives the link can read the text it contains, and the link may be stored in browser history or shared further. Avoid putting passwords or private information in a shareable link.

The trade-off of fragment links: they only pre-fill the tool when opened with JavaScript enabled, and social-media previews of the link do not include the text.

Older shared links may use ?text= in the query string. For compatibility, the site still accepts those links and immediately replaces the query with a fragment in your address bar. Unlike a fragment, the original query is included in the first request to our hosting provider. Do not put private information in a legacy query link.

Children's Privacy

Our service is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect any personal information from children.
