Bold Text Generator

Make ๐—ฏ๐—ผ๐—น๐—ฑ ๐˜๐—ฒ๐˜…๐˜ you can paste into any box that accepts plain text โ€” bios, captions, comments, chat. There is no formatting involved; the letters themselves are bold characters.

The output uses the sans-serif bold run of the Mathematical Alphanumeric Symbols block. That specific run is chosen because it has no gaps: the serif italic run famously has an unassigned slot where lowercase h should be, and generators that use it produce a broken letter.

How Unicode Bold Works

This is not a font and not a formatting flag. It is a different set of characters that happen to look bold.

Each letter is swapped for a bold character

A becomes ๐—” (U+1D5D4), a becomes ๐—ฎ (U+1D5EE), 0 becomes ๐Ÿฌ (U+1D7EC). These live in the Mathematical Alphanumeric Symbols block, intended for mathematical notation where bold carries meaning.

The sans-serif run avoids a known gap

Unicode reuses existing characters for a few mathematical slots, which leaves holes in some runs. The sans-serif bold run is complete for all 62 alphanumerics, so nothing renders as a fallback box.

It works because it is text

Since the boldness is in the characters rather than in markup, it survives copy and paste into fields that strip formatting entirely โ€” which is exactly why it is used on social platforms.

Unmapped characters pass through

Accented letters, punctuation, emoji and non-Latin scripts have no bold counterpart and are left exactly as they were, so nothing is silently dropped.

Bold Against the Other Styles

The same word through each Unicode style, so you can pick by eye rather than by name.

The Real Cost of Unicode Bold

These trade-offs apply to every Unicode styling tool on the internet, including this one. They are worth knowing before you put a bold name on a profile.

Screen readers announce it badly

๐—• is "mathematical sans-serif bold capital B", not "B". Some readers announce that in full and others skip the character entirely. A bold name can become unreadable or silent for a screen-reader user.

Search will not match it

๐—ฏ๐—ผ๐—น๐—ฑ and "bold" are different strings. A bold post is not found by searching the plain word, and a bold hashtag is a different hashtag with almost no followers.

It is not real bold

A designer's bold weight is drawn to match its regular. These characters come from one specific typeface design baked into the Unicode chart, so they may not match the surrounding font at all.

Some fields reject it

Forms that validate input against Latin letters will refuse these characters. Real names, addresses and login fields are the usual culprits.

Platform Support for Bold Text

Rendering is good on modern devices. The differences are in how each platform treats the characters afterwards.

Instagram

Renders in bios, captions and comments. A bold bio line is a common way to add hierarchy where Instagram provides none. Keep your @handle and hashtags in plain text.

LinkedIn

Widely used for headline and about-section emphasis. LinkedIn's own search does not match bold characters, so keep your job title in plain text if you want to be found.

Discord

Renders fine, but Discord has real markdown โ€” wrapping text in double asterisks gives true bold that stays accessible and searchable. Prefer that inside Discord.

TikTok and X

Both render bold characters correctly in bios and posts. Neither indexes them as plain letters, so a bold keyword is invisible to platform search.

When Unicode Bold Is Worth It

Adding hierarchy to a bio

Social bios offer no headings. One bold line at the top creates structure that the platform will not give you.

Highlighting one phrase

A single bold phrase in a caption draws the eye. Bold applied to a whole paragraph achieves nothing except making it harder to read.

Plain-text documents

README files, config comments and plain-text notes have no formatting. Unicode bold gives you emphasis that survives anywhere.

Chat apps without formatting

Several messaging apps have no bold option at all. Pasting bold characters is the only way to emphasise a word.
